Adding Emphasis Lines to an Image

Postby IcyAll » Sat Sep 15, 2018 4:44 pm

This would work for straight photography as well.

====================

Stamp existing layers up to new layer (cmd-opt-shift-e OR cmd-j)
Image -> Adjustments -> Black and White Use AUTO
Image -> Auto Contrast

Duplicate that black and white layer
Cmd-I to invert
Change blend mode to Color Dodge
Make that layer a Smart Object (Layer -> Smart Object -> Convert to Smart Object)
Filters -> Other -> Minimum - set line width to 1. (try 2 - 5 if they work better)

Made a group (cmd-g) of two black and white layers
Change blend mode of that group to Multiply

==============

If the lines are too light, use Curves or Level Adjustment layer to dial in the right line darkness.
Mask out bits you don't want on the group.

Well that got me to playing around with some images. Thanks for that.
Trouble is that sometimes it's subtle and you want to brag about what you did.
I bought my friend an elephant for his room. He said, "Thanks." I said, "Don't mention it."
